Obituary for Joseph Grieco

Joseph Grieco
Joseph Grieco passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 31, 2018 with his family present. Joe was born in the Bronx on March 21, 1924 son of the late Joseph and Mary(Gasparino).
He graduated from Machine and Metal Trades High School in Bronx, NY in 1943.
As part of the greatest generation he served in the US Army from 1943 to 1946 during WWII in the South Pacific as member of an antiaircraft gun crew as well as providing haircuts to fellow soldiers. When he returned home, he began his 50 year career with ConEdison and retired in 1997.
In 1959, he married Ella and in 1965 began their homebased rubber stamp and sign business; Kirsch Nameplates and years later started Monograms Unlimited.

Joe had many passions with driving his car being top on the list. He loved to drive whether it was a quick trip out for coffee or a day trip of shopping. He enjoyed spending his vacation time driving up to Quechee, Vermont or down to Florida. Joe was talented in drawing and also singing. At a young age, he sang at Carnegie Hall in NYC. He had a great sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh especially when he played cards (everyone knew to keep an eye on Joe). He continued to entertain his new friends over the last few years by making up funny words and waving hi with a flick of his hand.
Above all, Joe was dedicated to his family and devoted to his wife. He was one of seven children and continued to look after his siblings throughout his life. He will be fondly remembered for his easygoing, fun personality and strong veracious zest for life.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ella; daughters Eloise, June Campbell and husband Glen; granddaughters Aileen Peffers, Bridget Stack and husband Bailey; and bonus grandchildren Ashley and Alex Campbell. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary, father Joseph and siblings Delia Ettere, Frank, William, Rose Cirillo, Gerard and Daniel.
